ColorofChange.org and it's attempts to defend Obama are hypocritical at best -
." Beck is on a campaign to convince the American public that President Obama's agenda is about serving the needs of Black communities at White people's expense. It's repulsive, divisive and shouldn't be on the air."
So Al Sharpton, Charlie Dengle and Jesse Jackson can make lucrative careers of pitting Whites against Blacks and that's ok?? Bill Cosby has tried very hard to change that thinking among blacks - pointing out how they are manipulated by these three and pretty much the entire DNC. Beck's comments were spurred by Obama's own decision to weigh in on the arrest of a black friend of his by a white police officer. Obama showed his ass and as all this racist drama always plays out - it's ok for blacks to be racist and or say racist things but whites can not or don't dare, or here comes the three mustketeers - Al, Charlie and Jesse . Smart, thinking folks of all color can see the game unfolding - it's a joke in most circles. I'd venture to say Beck is not concerned about whether Obama is a racist or not - not as concerned as he is that Obama and the Liberal Left in this country are trying to grab as much liberty, freedom, money and power and are doing so by stomping all over everyone's rights and the US Constitution. Obama needs to go back to Chicago and be a community leader - he's no president and his cronies and he are leading the Left, right off the stage!!
Wake up America!!! Takwe this country back. Can't the folks at Colorofg Change.org see what has happened by giving billions of dollars (black folks money too) to the richest and most powerful banks and invest, ment firms when they campaign for office about how they're going to tax the rich and help the little guy. Obama is presiding over the greatest heist this world has ever seen and enjoys the verbage in the TARP Act which states ........."decisions by the treasurer are none reviewable by any court or administrative agency....". You dummies are trying to create an issue that is almost non-existant in this country (not withstanding Al's, Charlies and Jesse's diligent efforts to prevent us from getting racist issues behind us) as a smoke screen for what is really going on. If you black folks thought about it for an miniute or so, you would see that there are precious few blalcks in Obama's machine. Obama might be on the throne, but he's surrounded himself with people that are not black - are there no qualified blacks? Someone else is calling the shots - is my point. Wake up!

Log Home Care Services Training
When Steve Smith, of Marion, Indiana sat in on a presentation given by the Indiana Department of Workforce Developement, State TAA administration staff and IVY Tech - he listened as he was told he could find a program he wants and not just on e off a list offered at IVY Tech. He heard how a guy wanted to learn how to clean horses teeth - presented his training program plan and is cleaning horses teeth along with his farrier business. Steve immediately knew he wanted to go to learn to build with logs - and had to push for it all along the four months - but persevered he did.
Today, he's in his third week, and you can too! TAA is paying for travel, lodging, food, a tool package and books he gets to keep, and, tuition. What's keeping you from reaching for something you've been wanting to do for a long long time? Nearly all of our students for the past 20 years have said, they wished they'd have come years ago - is now the time right for you? Our 12 week Log Builder Training Program has recieved certification by the Indiana State Approving Agency, the VA GI Bill Education Programs and now, the Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) to Displaced Workers Grant Program as an Approved Training Program.Training includes learning the traditional, requisite skills to build with logs from scratch, but also includes learning about how to replace logs in milled kit log homes and a host of log home care, maintenance and restoration skills as well.
The demand is high for those with such skills allowing them to create or duplicate the logs needed to replace or restore logs in a log building. Graduates will have recieved instruction and skills training enabling them to not just find a job - but create one for themselves by starting a services oriented business of their own! More and more we are moving towards getting the program approved for the many programs being funded right now through the Stimulous Bill passed in February of 2009 - Indiana alone has recieved over $7,500,000.00 for TAA alone!

Tough Economy - Best Time to Learn How to Build with Logs?
Hello!
Folks have been responding to the economy for decades. What is happening now has happened to one degree or another in the past in cycles. This time, however, the Wall Street gurus and the politicians, I am afraid, have managed to cover their risky, greedy and irresponsible conduct with US Tax Payers money. Not one of us was asked either. In fact, we were unconstitutionally cut right out of ever being able to ask as the TARP Act states, ... "decisions by the US Treasurer are non-reviewable by any court or administrative agency." A day of reckoning will come for that - right now we're reeling from one massive spending bill after another, having to hear even the politicians aren't reading the Bills being voted on!
What does this mean for you as a family guy or gal, wanting to build a house and not be drowning in debt? The use of your own logs, stone and other raw resources is a possibility, but don't know where to get started? It makes sense to explore all possibilities. Our students are encouraged to begin formulating a 3 to 5 year plan on how they will accomplish getting their home done, building with logs. Not all students will be able to build completely debt-free - so lets's put that one to rest for Murphy's sake (as well as AJ's). However, ALL STUDENTS will be able to seriously eliminate most of their home building debt by limiting it - that's right.
Owner Builders are by far more attractive as a borrower, simply because they will have most of the equity in the home by the time it is done. In fact, preassembly of a completed log shell can account for 50% or more of that equity. Students are led through hands-on workshops, learning the requisite skills needed to build well and with confidense - in a preassembly approach. This approach, by the way, is also part of the 1500 year old traditions behind building with logs. Today it serves many more advantages than it did centuries ago.
In a hands-on environment - you learn the notching and other cutting skills in a practice area. It's a great way to begin and get a good handle on the 'what' and 'how'. From there, you begin applying those skills to real log building projects already begun or at differant phases of construction. For over 19 years, hundreds of stuents of all ages - and yes, women too, have come to learn these time honored skills and how to apply them in your 3 to 5 year plan of action.
Being 'debt-free' means not really having to worry about the bank or the economy either. "Debt-free' - is the real and perhaps the last real vestiage of knowing what real freedom is.
Most every student tells us they had been thinking of this for years - some all their life, wishing they's taken some steps to begin learning what they would need - to prepare themselves. Our job isn't just to teach you the new skills but it is equally if not more important to instill in you the confidense to build. It's not the easiest work you'll ever do - but now a days, we have this down to a system of steps, learning is easy and with your hands-on experience, you'll always know exactly what to do next. Students are supported long after their workshop as well. Email and phone is available to ask questions as they arise - so you're never out there totally on your own.
So what's keeping you? 1200 square foot log building (30x40) with full basement, loft 3bedroom and two bath is a typical project size. The logs for that log house shell might cost around 3 to 7 thousand, unless you have access to a source, or have (we go through finding logs in class) logs on your land already. That shell would take about 24ea 46 foot logs and 24ea 36 foot logs, and some for loft joists and the log / timber roof support system. Finished out in a county just South of the school location here in Indiana, that log building would sell for $425,000.00 - and appraise for that for insurance purposes too. The time it would take you to preassemble the log shell, and not have to quit your job to do so would net a shell worth about $141,000.00 or approximately 1/3rd of the selling value/price. Let us show you how one student did his homework and found that he could rent his planned log house out through a property management service for just under $48,000.00 a year. Does any of this begin to start some gears moving? It should!
Even if it took you three years to complete that 1200 square foot log shell - less your actual costs, $425,000.00 divided by three = $141,666.66. Typical equity in an owner built home may run from 50% to 80% or more. Why is equity even mentioned? Well, if you have never heard of the concept of discovering how to make your money work for you rather than you working for your money - it might sound confusing. Today, a person can use their 401K money to build a vacation / retirement home - without interest, tax or penalty for taking the money to do it either. (See; Self Directed IRA's). It's considered an investment by the IRS and becomes a part of your 401K portfolio. I don't know about you, but "funding" Wall Street's fiascos' is getting old fast!
After all that has happened in the last 6 to 9 months - 14 trillion dollars has been printed and the Federal Reserve refuses to allow itself to be audited. If they'll canablize Social Security, why wouldn't they set their gaze on all these baby boomers with their long term investment portfolio's worth billions? An awful lot of those have lost 30% to 50% in value already. Some one has to repay all that 14 trillion + interest.
So what's stopping you from learning something new - and getting yourself set financially by becoming an owner/builder? I believe it makes more sense now than ever before!

Learning the Craft of Log Building
Today is Tuesday April 18th 2006 - Building with logs to get a home for yourself is an investment in your future. The equity that is possible can be substantial. Learning how to plan to build debt-free is introduced while you attend a hands-on log building workshop. It is possible to build with fresh-cut green logs on a temporary site while you keep working your regular job. Most every handcrafted log building built today is pre-assembled and for many good reasons. You owe it to yourself to attend a workshop no matter how involved you will be in completing the log home you wish to have. The cost to do so will be saved many many times over as you will not be guessing - you will "know" what to do. While we do teach the 1500 year old traditional Scandinavian scribe to fit method of building with logs what we really do is instill confidense! To get you started and in the spirit of things, you might obtain a copy of Dick Proenneke's "Alone in the Wilderness" DVD or VHS movie of him, at 51 moving to Alaska and building a log cabin of his own, then living there for over 30 years! I also would invite you to ask any questions about building with logs or share your experiences in building your own log home from scratch. In 17 years of teaching we have always offerred anyone wishing to return for a refresher course to do so tuition-free. Only one in all that time has done just that. We like to think its because we are thourough and our support after students complete their workshop and while they are building result in positive outcomes. The time you will save and the assurance of knowing your work is being done right - that peace of mind through knowledge and understanding will make the experience one of the most rewarding ever! There are buildings in old Europe that were built in the 8th and 9th centuries still being used today and there is nothing in America even that old today! I will be adding to this blog from time to time letting readers know what is happening here and in the worls of log building.
